I know it’s been forever since I updated but….
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007I swear I have a good reason (or at least it was good in my mind.:) ) At the end of last year, it was just really busy and then, in January, one of my goals this year was to spend more time with my family and less time on the internet. It’s amazing when you step away from the computer for a while – you find that you were spending so much more time than you realized online. Don’t get me wrong, I love the internet for all I can find on it but I felt like I was missing out on other parts of my life by being online. But now….I’m starting to think, maybe I could do a little of both - spend lots of time online but put an update now and then when the kids are sleeping……
So…it’s now July and we just got back from our yearly trip to Cape Cod (Hyannis, MA). We went for three WONDERFUL weeks and this time, my husband came for the entire trip since he had just accepted a new job and was able to travel in between jobs.
For the first time since college, I took the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard and celebrated Matthew’s 8th birthday there. We had a ball. There was an amazing store called Sanctuary (http://www.shopsanctuary.com/). I LOVED this store and was able to pick up a few new things for my new scrapbook room. Yup….that’s right, I have a new scrapbook room on the first floor of my house – I’m no longer in the dungeon as I used to like to call it. I’ll post pictures soon but I need to organize it first. I feel so blessed to have a room that is just for scrapbooking and has lots of my favorite things in it. Favorite pics on the walls and favorite word art, etc.
Now…have I scrapbooked it in yet….well…not really….I’m still at the organizing stage. Am I ever NOT in this stage??? I swear I spend more time organizing than actually using stuff.
All is going well for me health wise. I did try the new drug Tykerb for a few months – it gave me a horrible rash on my face and some tummy and fatigue issues which I was fine with but unfortunately, it didn’t work. So I’m currently back on Xeloda for my second round to see if we can get that drug to work. I did have a PET/CT at the end of June and I’m so, so happy to say, it is still bone only disease.
The kids are starting school in 30 days (all THREE of my babies - how did THAT happen) and we’ve decided to switch them to public this year. It’s so close to our house and we have found out that the public school is able to do more acceleration with kids which was necessary last year when Matthew scored 36 out of 38 in OCTOBER for the 1st grade Math curriculum for the year. The catholic school wasn’t able to work with him on an individual basis so they just repeated the material that he already knew. But….we still LOVE that school – it was a hard decision that was made one night on the beach by Mike and I. The good news is the kids are fine with it - Matthew played regular little league this year and was also asked to play on an AAU team so he got to meet lots of kids that will be at this school and Mari and Nicholas will be fine because it would be new to them whether it was here or some place else so that made the decision a lot easier.
By going to public though, everyone is in full days and I’m trying to figure out…..WHAT I’M GOING TO DO WITH 6 HOURS a day to myself…any ideas? I’m thinking that I may actually have a really clean house this year although with all the time off the computer, the house has looked so much better than it has in years. I SHOULD be able to come up with better ideas than cleaning the house, right??????
Thanks to all of you who have called or emailed to check on me. It’s so nice to know that there are so many people out there thinking about me. Sorry I was a bit of slacker for a while but I feel like I’m in a better spot now and I have LOVED all the time I have spent with the kids - we’ve been to museums, painting, baseball games, etc and I’m so, so thankful for the time with them.
I have done a few scrapbook things and will post pics later but I had a few minutes tonight and figured it was a great time to update.
Hope everyone reading this has a WONDERFUL day. Lot more to come soon I hope.
